Little STEAMers Preschool 3-Day Session (4-5 year olds) - Pierre

Jan 06

Our Little STEAMers Preschool is based on the Montessori principles that children learn best when they are given the freedom to move, to choose their own work, and follow their interests, operating within boundaries that include respect for themselves, others, and their environment. In Little STEAMers Preschool students learn through guided exploration and build skills with independent hands-on learning. Using Montessori methods, our teachers progress students’ exploration skills and use a complete preschool curriculum to develop students’ understanding of STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and communication (language arts & literacy).

Fee: $1,064.25 per semester for South Dakota Discovery Center Members

Preservation Thursday: The Communities Women Constructed - Deadwood

Mar 06

Whether raising funds, raising awareness, or building a sense of community, women’s organizations were instrumental in turning early Black Hills towns into places people called home. While a space to network and learn, these clubs also developed opportunities and pursued projects that would have significant impact on their communities. In this presentation, Kelly Kirk, director of the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center, delves into the stories of these remarkable organizations, showcasing their efforts and the profound mark they made on Black Hills history. Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center; 12:00 p.m.; free for members and $5 for non-members.
