Our Little STEAMers Preschool is based on the Montessori principles that children learn best when they are given the freedom to move, to choose their own work, and follow their interests, operating within boundaries that include respect for themselves, others, and their environment. In Little STEAMers Preschool students learn through guided exploration and build skills with independent hands-on learning. Using Montessori methods, our teachers progress students’ exploration skills and use a complete preschool curriculum to develop students’ understanding of STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and communication (language arts & literacy).
Fee: $693 per semester for South Dakota Discovery Center Members

The Run with the Govs route features bronze statues of 31 former governors. Race through to see the highlights or stroll along the route to enjoy the artistry and stories of the state's legendary leaders.
This year's featured leader is the 8th Governor of South Dakota, Frank M. Byrne, who served as Governor from 1913-1917. In 2025, the SD Legislature is celebrating its 100th session. Byrne was elected to the first State Senate in 1889! Run with the Govs walking participants are encouraged to take a breather during the last mile of the race at Governor Byrne's statue, which stands on Broadway Avenue in front of the Becker-Hansen Building.
The race starts and finishes at the front steps of the beautiful State Capitol building. Participants of all ages are welcome, including kids in strollers, and dogs on leashes. All registered runners/walkers are guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by June 2nd. Awards will be given for the overall male and female winners and top male and female, ages 12 and under.
