The Black Hills Film Festival (BHFF) is an annual event created to build awareness of independent films and film as an art form; create opportunities for South Dakota communities and Black Hills visitors to experience high-quality films; and provide networking and social interactions with filmmakers and special guests. BHFF has gained a reputation for its well-organized and professionally executed programming, and its friendly, networking-rich environment that are attended by filmmakers and the public.

The Lead Deadwood Arts Center will be hosting a traditional rug hooking exhibit and open house. The beautiful, hand hooked wool rugs have been created by the Mt. Rushmore Rug Hookers Social Club and will be on display Sept 4 thru Oct 13. An "Artists Reception" will be held on Wednesday, Sept 6 from 4 to 6 pm with light refreshments served. The public is invited to attend and view over 30 new pieces, watch live demos of rug hooking from the artists and enter a raffle for a chance to win a beautiful rug. Sign up for our science-based preschool program for our youngest learners. Literature, free exploration, sensory experiences, directed experiments, art and conversation will be at the core of the program. The overall curriculum is being designed on a 3-year cycle so children who start as 3 year-olds will have a new experience each year.
The Fall Semester starts September 8, 2023 and runs through December 15, 2023
This class will meet Friday mornings from 8:00am - 12:00 pm at the South Dakota Discovery Center in our classroom.

. Booya is a delicious thick Belgian soup/stew that our Firefighters will start preparing on Friday. This is a fundraiser for the Silver City Volunteer Fire Department, we are one of the last self-supported (no mil-levy tax) VFD’s in Pennington County. Our Fire Department covers a 40 square mile area with 150+ structures and many popular tourist destinations. Your help in promoting our event will be greatly appreciated and will help us to continue to offer valuable First Responder and Fire protection services to our Fire District and the surrounding districts as well. We will also be having the drawing for the Dahl Chainsaw carved Bear that we are selling raffle tickets for.
